Day fifty three of #MediMagic365 is complete I started my meditation today at 4:40 am with my normal routine of big deep belly breaths, relaxing my entire body and muscles and filling my body with white light. I sat in my normal pose of sitting with my legs crossed and hands resting on my knees palms facing up with my index finger and thumb touching so the energy I was circulating throughout my body would stay within me and not release through my palms.
Today's meditation message was "gratitude" and the fact that we have so much to be grateful for in our everyday life. As yesterday myself and a colleague took a day and had nothing but fun and joy while we drove an hour and a half from Newport Beach to Valencia California and went to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Throughout the day I was finding many things to be grateful for but the biggest was my transition came as we were waiting in line for rides. Normally in my past attendance I was not a "patient" person who liked to wait for such things. But now that I have been on this meditation journey it was actually fun to stand and wait for the rides anywhere form 15-30 minutes while not being on social media while doing it. I had great conversations with the person that went with me and when we weren't talking I took that time to just "be" and look and connect with others. As I observed others I noticed that the new "normal" is people and families on their devices even while standing and enjoying such a wonderful place together the majority of people were not talking but all with their faces in a screen until they got on the ride and as soon as they got off right back to the screen. This was a great realization for me to be grateful for the meditation journey I am on and will continue to remain on while evolving and being present in each moment in life while enjoying the people that are around me and that I am spending time with. Don't get me wrong I did place one or two post on social media when I arrived out of excitement and chose to be present and enjoy my time while not having the fear of missing out of what others are doing in their daily life. After we left six flags a close friend invited us to her home and we went to visit and talked and had such an amazing conversation while being present with each other and talking about our future goals and how to help one another achieve our current goals. It was so refreshing to just talk and be present with each other with not being focused on our screens.
According to Digital Trends Americans spend a minimum of 4.7 hours a day on social media and considering were only awake fifteen hours daily that is one third of our time focused on everyone else's life and what they are doing rather than being present with ourselves, family and careers.
Conclusion: I am grateful for that realization to be presented to me so I now know I choose to only dedicate certain amounts of time daily to social media and time block that as of now so I am able to be present in what I am doing at the moment. Will you join me in choosing to be present in each moment throughout the day?
