Day two hundred five of #MediMagic365 is complete and today I did a very different meditation. I didn't get up at a certain time to meditate. I actually did the opposite. I turned off my alarm and let myself wake up when my body and mind were fully rested vs me controlling the time I wake up and get started. So today I woke up naturally at 7:30 am well rested, rejuvenated and allowed my body and mind to fully rest and get going when they were ready vs when I "thought" I should be.
Sleep is one of the best meditations because we are in a complete state of rest. According to the Dali lama "Regular rest is essential for both the mind and body, so it only goes to follow that high quality sleep is a necessary ingredient of meditation – after all, both involve relaxing and clearing the mind." According to another study reveal that sleep allows the brain to clean waste accumulated during the awakened period. Delta brain waves 0.5 to 2Hz They are the slowest brainwaves (lower frequency). Delta is generated in deep sleep and deep meditation as well. If you reach that level in meditation or in your sleep you’re completed disconnected from the outside world. Conclusion: "That level will help with reduction of physical symptoms such as fatigue and pain. It’s possible to wake up after a good night of deep sleep, refreshed, regenerated and healed." I believe that one of the best meditations is sleep, because we are again giving up the control and saying when we will wake up by allowing our bodies to do it naturally when they are ready not when we think they are ready or we "should" get up. I am going to try this for a few days or as long as I feel I need to and reap the benefits.
